A day in our life...

I though it would be fun to share what a day looks like for us.  Mostly because I have to laugh.  How did I get here again?  I am a real mom, ha - doing mom things, making mom decisions, losing my mom mind at times and for the most part figuring out my new life.

Here was our day today - a pretty typical day when I am not in the office.

- 6:00am - Chris says goodbye

- 7:50am: Logan wakes up  (50 minutes later than usual) which means I wake up at 7:50 :)

- 8:00am: We head upstairs for breakfast.

Yes, that's peas and carrots (and a cereal bar) for breakfast that you see.  It was slim pickins' around here.

8:20am: Logan watches Baby Einstein while I log in to my work email and get a few things done

9:00am: A friend from church stops by to drop off the invitations she helped me design and print for Emily's baby shower.  Here is a sneak peak - I love them!

Check out more of her amazing work at Platinum Daisy Designs.

9:15am: Logan and I head out for a 3-mile walk

10:00am: We return home and Lo goes down for (the rest of) her morning nap.

10:20 - 11:30am: I quickly get ready for the day (sans shower and minimal make up) and then do work while Logan sleeps.

11:30am: Logan wakes up from her nap and I get her dressed for the day...finally.

12:15pm:  We leave the house to run errands

12:15 - 1:00pm: Drop off a thank you note to a neighbor, return a library book, pick up dry cleaning, and stop at Whole Paycheck, I mean Whole Foods, for Chris' special face lotion ( and he says I am high maintenence) and a few other goods.  Logan eats her "lunch" in parts.  Goldfish in the car, cheese stick in Whole Foods, milk and a cookie back in the car.  Our car seat is officially a mouse's dream with crumbs galore.  I was certain that I was not going to let our kids eat in the car for this very reason prior to having one.  HAH - yea right!

1:00pm - 1:45pm:  I take Logan to Cherry Creek to run around in the play area prior to tackling the grocery store.  The same play area that I thought was a sure way to get a case of 'Hand Foot and Mouth' disease pre-baby.  Now, I get it.  She loves the thing and it doesn't require me to open my wallet!!  It's a favorite these days.

2:00pm: We arrive at Target for this week's grocery store run.  We park in the same spot as always (how's that for type-a).  I do this because a) we do the exact same routine in the store every time and this parking spot makes sense b) I never forget where I parked c) it's one of the farthest spots from the store, meaning I don't have to fight for a space or compete with others in the same aisle and d) because it's so far, it's always available.  Precise planning people: it even weirds me out.

We first head to the dollar bin to find something for Logan to play with while we are shopping.  And if it's something she can't give up in the checkout lane, it's only a buck.  This ploy usually works quite well and shopping goes smoothly.  Then again...sometimes it doesn't.

Miss Priss refuses to sit in the seat section of the cart so the whole trip is done standing up.  Today she was especially fussy and wanted nothing to do with the cart.  So I let her out to walk- for about 5 seconds until she started tearing things off the shelves.  See that candy?  Down on the floor 2 seconds after I took this shot:

So, back in she went and the rest of the trip was done in tears.  Her, not me.

3:15pm: We arrive back home and I put Logan down for her afternoon nap.

3:20pm: I bring the first round of groceries inside.  The bottom of bag falls out.  I leave it for now.

3:25 - 3:45pm: I bring in the second round of groceries, leave everything where it's at and check urgent emails and return voice mails.  I used to try and work while I was out and about with Logan but quickly realized that it was beyond inefficient.

3:45pm - 4:45pm: Put away groceries, straighten house, sort through mail, work some more.

4:45pm: Logan wakes up.  We play and then try and tackle this mess.

Anything that didn't find a home, I thre in what I like to call 'The Pit'.  The Pit is one place in our house that is very disorganized and for some reason, I am okay with it.  Kind of.

5:15pm - 5:45pm: Seems like the longest 30 minutes of my life.  It's the witching hour.

5:30pm: Chris calls and says he is on his way home!  Best time of the day.  Meanwhile I feed Logan dinner consisting of Veggie Booty, Boca Chicken and Blueberries.  We are trying to get her to use her fork and she is doing pretty darn good!

5:50pm - 6:30pm: Chris gets home and plays with Logan while I address invitations, make Logan's lunch for tomorrow and make a phone call regarding another friend's shower - I love planning these things!

6:30pm: Attempt a family bike ride

6:45pm: Turn around because Logan is screaming.

7:00pm: I get Logan ready for bed while Chris mows the lawn.  Logan gets out her Woolly Mammoth (a first bday gift) and a book and we read together.

7:30pm: I start dinner, enjoy a beer that I had been dreaming about, check facebook and respond to personal emails:

8:00pm: Logan wakes up and I go down to console her.  She lays her head on my shoulder and I am in love.

8:30pm: We finally eat (Fajitas and Cilantro Lime Rice) and watch the History Channel.

9:00pm: I start this post and Chris falls asleep :)

9:45pm: We head downstairs, read, browse the internet and chat.

10:15pm: Goodnight!

I will be doing a post exactly like this, because one day we will look back and miss these times of absolute chaos (maybe?)..but for now, we can laugh at just how different life is from what we were doing just a few years back!
