Good Morning -
Well, we are settling in nicely to our new little house. First and foremost, I have to thank Chris's family for all of the help this past weekend on the house....the moving, the cleaning, the painting. I know the house would not be nearly as far along if they were not there...so, thanks! Some of the major things we have done since we have moved in include: painting the whole top floor - top to bottom, deep cleaned the kitchen and bathroom (they look brand new now!), painted our front door red (Licorice Stick is the exact color - so, yes, it's bright red), hung new white wood blinds in the kitchen and bedroom, set up our washer and dryer, hung extra closet space in the basement (our "master" closet is really no more than 3 feet wide......Clearly, a woman was not flipping this house, or this would have been addressed already!), bought an awesome new mirror, set up our couch, which, sadly, is MUCH too big for the room....so, we are on the look out for a new one, painted the registers in the house so they are sparkling white and have changed all the light bulbs -
We brought the cat home last night for his first night at the new house. A deer in headlights is the best way to describe him. He gets real low to the ground and kind of scoots across the floor checking things out. When something startles him, his tale ruffles and he scurries aways - the funny thing is, on wood floors, he slips all over the place. Not sure he quite likes it yet. When he was checking it out last night Chris and I joked that he was thinking "Hmm, definitely a downgrade guys, what the?" (Coming from Chris's parents house before this)!
We also love our neighbors. So far, a great street. There is a diverse mix of people - which I love. Our next door neighbors Dan and Kyle, are probably in their mid 20's and have poker night every Wednesday, which Chris is stoked about. The couple next to them is a young married couple from the South, Meghan and Mark. I saw Mark take out his bike the other day, but I haven't told Chris yet - I'll lose him from working on the house for sure;) Next to them, an elderly couple, Louis and Ed who have lived in the neighborhood for 23 years. Ed is proudly on the "neighborhood watch team". And then a family across the street with two little girls. Oh, and Greg. Our "side" neighbor. Interesting guy....I like him, I think. He has been growing on me the past couple of days. Everyone in the neighborhood knows him and says "I'm sure you've met Greg. If not, you will." And it's true - Greg walks around the block at least 30 times a day, and every time he passes, he stops to chat if you are within site....to everyone. And about the most random things. It's really kind of funny - I'm sure I'll post more about him sometime -
That's about it on our end. Busy, busy with the house. Can't wait until we're settled to really start enjoying it and having friends and family over. This weekend, though, we will have a break - going to a party on Friday, Kari's b-day on Saturday and watching the Bronco's, I'm sure, on Sunday~
I'll post pictures this evening -
PS: Chris's uncle, Tim, passed away, suddenly, this weekend. It is very sad - he was only 61 years old and has a daughter getting married this summer and a brand new grandson. This is in addition to his other daughter, two sons and his wife, Aunt Anne. Our thoughts are certainly with the Finn's.
