Hair Stuff, Jewelry and Make Up - Oh My! Day 6.

Psst....Day 6 is really about organizing your kids art work.  Seeing as how Logan has very minimal works of art at this age nor does she notice if I secretly stash them in the trash after I gush about how great they are, organizing art work was not on my list of things to "purge".  But if you must know the gist, get a binder with sheet protectors and keep artwork through the ages in these binders.  Label them and date them so that you can look back and know when and who certain pieces were from.  Badda Bing, Badda Boom.

Moving On...

For each category (hair, jewelry and make up), collect all items (don't forget gym bags, purses, bedside tables, etc.) and follow these simple rules:

Hair Stuff - if it's circa 1980, get rid of it.  If it has the name Scrunchi on it, get rid of it.  If it's brisstles are worn and missing, get rid of it.  If you have never used it, get rid of it.  Next, organize what items you have left into bins, tins, bags, etc. to keep everything in once place.  Simple.

Jewelry - If it's tarnished, polish it.  If it's broken, get rid of it.  If it doesn't have a match, get rid of it.  If you have never worn it, get rid of it.  If you swear you're going to wear it but haven't in over a year, get rid of it.  If it's anything of your Grandmother's DON'T get rid of it.  I am so envious of those of you who have your Grandma's jewels.  Capiche?

Make Up - Refer to THIS ARTICLE for tips on how long to keep common make up items.  Get rid of anything crushed or anything that requires you to use that little sponge applicator that came in the case.  Big girls should use big brushes, don't you think?  If it screams "I dance on a pole" (i.e. sparkles from here to Vegas), save it for Halloween.  Even better? Get rid of it.  And lastly, if you have never applied it, get rid of it.  KEEP anything that you use on a daily or weekly basis and has not "expired".  Organize your make up and keep your brushes in a separate spot from your powders, eye shadows, blush, etc. (this will prevent leftover colors and dust from gathering on them).  Finally, WASH your brushes in soapy warm water and keep this up every other week or so.

Once you have completed these tasks, pat yourself on the back, get thee to Etsy and award yourself with some organizational treats!
