Build A Library

I have been working on the details for one of my sweet friend's "build a library" baby shower that's approaching in a little over a week and am excited to share some of them with you!  In the meantime though, I've had the chance to think about what my favorite books for the kids have been and what I would like to contribute to her collection.

Of course there are the staples: The Giving Tree, Oh The Places You'll Go, Goodnight Moon and Guess How Much I Love You for starters but some of my true favorites are a little less obvious and don't always take center stage on the shelf.  We have stumbled upon each one of these books as they have all been gifts for either Logan or Weston and I have fallen in love with the pages over the course of our evening story times.  Each one inspires, teaches and prompts some good questions and conversations and have created such special memories for me (and hopefully for L&W one day)...

Here are some of my favorites:

Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots by Carmela LaVigna Coyle

The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds

Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle

On the Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman

Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes

The Brave Cowboy by Joan Walsh Anglund

What are some of your reading treasures?

We love books in this house! I'll have to try all of the ones on your list, starting with "Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots?" My recent favorite is "All the World" by Liz Garton Scanlon - the wording and illustrations are outstanding.
