Hello from "Amsterdam"

I mark Amsterdam with quotations, because I am actually no where near the city, nor can I tell you much about Holland even though I have been here for nearly 7 days. I am working in a small town called Almere about 45 minutes outside of the city, in a cabin like setting; think summer camp when you were little....lots of bugs and only 'okay' food. Unlike summer camp, however, there is not much playing, with the exception of my trip to the city for a couple of hours on Thursday. While this would not be a normal location for a program, it's the only place semi-near the race site to house 130 triathletes. Coming up on my 7th day, I am getting antsy to get back home to Chris, check my e-mail, listen to music, watch tv and speak to people in English rather than with hand gestures and a lot of nodding...

On a side note, I should mention that my trip to Par-eee was amazing! Truly one of the best times I have ever had. It's such a beatuiful city and I am already eager to go back. It will be awhile, however, as our bank acount needs a rest ;)

We work looooong hours on-site, but really, the days go by fast. I've enjoyed my first program and am learning a ton. Mostly that no matter how much you have planned, things rarely go that way; especially with 130 people to account for. We pretty much put out fires all day, but I must say, there is a strange adrenaline rush that comes with overcoming the various obstacles of the day and having to be the one that everyone looks to for a solution.

Today I woke up with 16 mesquito bites on my calf, not joking, and it is all I can do not to scratch my leg off....which is why I'm still typing;) Kara, if you're reading, you would not survive this program I'm afraid...ha ha.

Hope all is well in the states. I miss home and the American dollar. Things are expenisve in Europe!
