We've got other things to spend our money on these days, like this leather jacket formula and pretty jewelry diapers. Needless to say, new art decor does not rank high (if at all) on the priority list.
But like a scratch you can't itch, there were a few empty spaces around the house begging to be filled in (is that at all like a scratch you can't itch?!)
Anyhow, to the point. I found some cheap alternatives to "art". And they work. For those empty spaces. So, my itch is scratched. Take a look:
Magazine Clipping from West Elm Catalog (Free, duh). |
Framed and... |
Done |
Fabric Swatches from Fancy Tiger ($10 for a pack of 30) |
Waiting to be collaged or sewn or pinned or matted and framed, etc. But for now, just making me happy |
West Elm Clippings (Again, fo free). |
Matted and Framed. (Mat/Frame combo $9.99 on clearance due to misplaced hang-y things. Chris was nice enough to re-adjust, although I am pretty sure I could have done myself , heheh). |
Viola - Bedroom Themed Art (the G-rated, kid friendly, kind) |
Now, if I could just figure out how to hang this cute thing up, we'd be set :) |

You are so creative! Love the fabric swatches - can't wait to see what you do with them.
Can't wait to visit that fabric store... once I actually buy my sewing machine!
So... I recently discovered that Anthropologie carries (REALLY UNFORTUNATELY EXPENSIVE) wallpaper.
One can procure samples of said wallpaper (FOR FREE) buy clicking "Order a Sample" online.
I'm told the samples are 4x6.
You better believe those things are being framed, matted, and hung in my house. I have 6 on their merry way to me!
Um, SO excited Kate! This is way better than magazines, hah. Thanks for sharing. On my way to ordering now. I love free stuff from Anthro (wrapping decor during the holidays - I try and stockpile)!
You always have the BEST decorating ideas....come do my house, haha.
Hope you 3 are doing well!!
